Sorry, Camels

LOYAL? I didn’t know, so I googled it. And yes!
CAMELs are. And friendly, and affectionate.
ODDLY, I only remembered that they spit.
QUITE an apology I owe to camels, man’s most hydrated best friend.

Loyalty

My LOYAL camel oddly quit, after many years of service.
A CAMEL more than oddly loyal, his loss made me quite nervous.
ODDLY, my loyal camel, quite happy, now walked in my neighbour’s train.
QUITE angry I, since oddly my camel’s loyal, now, to extra grain!

Thermopylae

MOUTH of the mountain pass held, tensions walking the edge of a
CLIFF, waiting for the tide of attack to come in––each
TROOP coming to terms with the inevitable, not hoping for a
FREAK stroke of luck, but eager for iron and bronze.

Camel-Backed

CAMEL-backed topography sends your stomach through your feet:
QUITE a difference between peaks and bottoms on the curved road.
ODDLY enough, it seems to us every time, that One remains
LOYAL to vows, to promises, to love, to us.

Second time round

Here’s
CLEAT once more, two days since its last entrance. Sound the
CONCH that such a word gets its second run. Will sounding the conch
BLESS this occasion? Perhaps not, but a bit of hooloo hoolay won’t go amiss
TODAY.

A Taste of Eden

CLEAT lassoed, I tie up the skiff,
BLESS the water, bless the land, bless
TODAY. Here’s to the slowness, to the
CONCH on the beach, to the sun, to a taste of Eden unbarred.
