The
GUIDE, with a botanist’s penchant for

DAISY on the way, overlooking the particular. My
PURSE hurt; I’d paid for something more compelling.
PURSE for us both, if through Bialowieza forest you
GUIDE me, winding past oaks into deepest glade dwelling of the one
DAISY, Bellis perennis aurea, which blooms with golden
FLAIR, but only ever for plundering hearts, immune to its beauty.
DAISY petals fluttering past
PURSEd lips curving into a frown;
FLAIR for the dramatic does not translate to wise
GUIDEs or counselors.
