MODEL Gallic village de la résistance,
DRUID gathering their independence with his sickle,
TERSE command: Drink up and whomp the Romans!
UNFIT are they to take our menhirs and way of life.
RATTY twists among the cargo,
TWICE twists and thrice turns,
CARGO free for such as Ratty;
TWISTs twixt holds, bows and sterns.
TWIST in perception: this dust, this grime, this
TWICE over diminished, fractured, unlovely seeming life holds
CARGO of eternity to emerge as treasure, however
RATTY these present digs in a back alley of time.

CARGO hold of this ship as we
TWIST and scrape past the reefs.

TORCH, flickering light in grotto’s cavern,
TROVE, dug for in such light,
WRACK, ship’s end it was that buried trove,

THRUM I in a kind of hum,
CHASE away the sounds of drum,
CROWD turns pale to hear the
CONCH which brings to surface all their fear.
CONCH activated—yogurt cup hotline straight to Poseidon:
CHASE Kraken 11 and the purloined trident!
CROWD gathers at deep sonar in Woods Hole:
THRUM augurs bathyclastic tempest’s birth.
CONCH shell trail leads away from the
CROWD, toward the seas and the
THRUM of wind in the sails. The
CHASE for Maui has begun.
