Koala

CROWN of my day’s achievements: finding the weight of a
KOALA in our care. The other vets gave up, but before I took the
FERRY home, I managed to weigh the koala toddler, and not
SPANK the side of my head with frustration. Cute kid.

[One of my more odd poems…coming back to it, I’m not quite sure what I was saying, in part…]

And it’s not even my dog…

CHAFE my fingers to the bone, weeding; lentil
STALK pokes me in the eye – bleeding. Gentle
GAUZE turned up in Wordle today. My dog’s nuzzle makes my
TRACK of solutions look like a Tetris puzzle.

Sidney, my cousin’s dog…

What Now

STALK fulfillment’s dream down dusty
TRACK, winding into hollow canyons.
GAUZE of leaden sky above as I try to find myself–then
CHAFE when I do, yet nothing has changed.

A Beauty Never Seen

PURSE for us both, if through Bialowieza forest you
GUIDE me, winding past oaks into deepest glade dwelling of the one
DAISY, Bellis perennis aurea, which blooms with golden
FLAIR, but only ever for plundering hearts, immune to its beauty.
