CROWN of my day’s achievements: finding the weight of a
KOALA in our care. The other vets gave up, but before I took the
FERRY home, I managed to weigh the koala toddler, and not
SPANK the side of my head with frustration. Cute kid.
[One of my more odd poems…coming back to it, I’m not quite sure what I was saying, in part…]
SPANKing pace and roiling wake,
FERRY hydroplanes the Straits,
KOALAition of the archipelago assembling.
CROWN’s ambition has cast the dice for war.
SPAN, King’s navy, from familiar seas to
KOALA and kangaroo’s homeland;
CROWN claims for itself then ships
FERRY “adventurers” down under.

STALK fulfillment’s dream down dusty
TRACK, winding into hollow canyons.
GAUZE of leaden sky above as I try to find myself–then
CHAFE when I do, yet nothing has changed.
GAUZE rolls applied, they
CHAFE the skin (what’s left, anyway).
STALKing the bear along its
TRACKs may have not been the brightest idea.

The
GUIDE, with a botanist’s penchant for
FLAIR of a particular type, pointed out each
DAISY on the way, overlooking the particular. My
PURSE hurt; I’d paid for something more compelling.
PURSE for us both, if through Bialowieza forest you
GUIDE me, winding past oaks into deepest glade dwelling of the one
DAISY, Bellis perennis aurea, which blooms with golden
FLAIR, but only ever for plundering hearts, immune to its beauty.
